Our Beginnings

Workstream’s roots date back 15 years ago, as an advertising agency called Williams Design Associates (WDA). Back then the initial business started out servicing clients in the Sydney market, across a range of industries including a large number of real estate customers. The advertising agency provided clients with a high end service for their media buying, creative design, advertising, signage and print needs.

The experience gained in managing large amounts of advertising space with numerous individual property ads, requested by lots of individual sales agents was invaluable to the long term evolution of the business. Our staff learnt to work within extremely tight deadlines, understood the need for absolute accuracy and the requirement for very high standards of design and colour reproduction. This understanding of high turnover artwork production led us, in 2000, to consider online design technology as a tool to advance our service levels, lower our overheads and also lower the overall marketing costs for our clients.

After many months looking at all technologies available at that time, the view was formed that none provided a sufficiently fast, robust or flexible solution and the decision was taken to develop an in-house solution. A separate division, which soon after became a separate company, Workstream Solutions was formed to create the technology.

Within months of launching, the technology had proven to be so superior to anything else on the market. Workstream was approached by many large real estate agencies with in-house design and marketing teams and several major publishing groups across Australia and New Zealand - all of whom wished to use the technology themselves. The rest is history and the company has grown internationally into the largest provider of online design technology services (by page and artwork count) in the world today.

At present Workstream services very significant percentages of the newspaper publishing market, the real estate market and other vertical markets like recruitment, motor and retail. We have also recently launched a joint-venture with American publishing software and services company, MultiAd, which is already seeing great success with many significant American clients on-board already.

Our Team

Based in Sydney, Australia with a team of 70, Workstream has established itself as the leader in its field. Staff travel extensively on assignment as well as use web-based tools to remotely train, support and roll-out our geographically spread user base.
